Delete your account
Last updated: October 6, 2026
This page explains how to delete your account in BarMatch, the app made by BarMatch LLC, and what happens to your information when you do. It restates Section 5.2 of our Privacy Policy; if anything here differs, the Privacy Policy controls.
In the app
- Open BarMatch and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab and tap Delete account at the bottom.
- Tap Delete account again to confirm.
Without the app
Email privacy@barmatch.com from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email, include the phone number on your account instead. We may ask you to confirm the account is yours, and we reply within 30 days.
What happens next
- Your account leaves other members’ view at once: your profile is hidden, any live check-in, open matches, invites and drink offers end, and you are signed out on every device.
- For 60 days you can keep your account by signing back in and choosing Keep my account.
- After 60 days your account is closed: your photos, profile details, matches, messages, vibe checks, friend list, saved items and sign-in are removed. The same phone number, Apple or Google account can later sign up only as a new account.
- Deleting your account does not cancel a BarMatch+ subscription, because Apple or Google bills it. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
What we keep, and for how long
- A limited record for disputes, claims and legal requests: your legal name, date of birth, email and phone number (held separately and available only to authorized BarMatch staff), your purchases and other transactions, your check-ins, support tickets and reports. Venues see these records without your name. We keep this record for 3 years after the account closes; after that your identity is deleted and only anonymous purchase amounts are kept, until 7 years after closing, for tax and accounting.
- Reviews you wrote stay on the venue’s page, shown as “A guest” without your name or photo.
- Records of the terms you accepted and of any biometric consent are kept for 3 years after the account closes (see the BIPA Notice).
- Information under a legal hold, such as a law-enforcement preservation order, is kept until the hold is released.
